Jorōgumo
Once a spider reaches 400 years of age it undergoes a magical transformation and takes the appearance of a beautiful human woman. In this form they seek out and seduce men, lowering their guard in an attempt to capture them in their webs or poison them with a single bite. Once their prey is helpless they are known to eat them right away or save them to be eaten later. Some victims are fated to become the first meal of the jorogumo's next batch of hatchlings.
Exclusively female, jorogumo must mate with humans to produce fertile eggs. Their true form is a hybrid between a human and a spider, appearing as a beautiful woman with spider-like features such as spider legs (on their backs or lower bodies), extra eyes and sharp fangs. In spite of the enhanced sight and surface climbing abilities while in their true forms, jorogumo spend most of their time in the human forms which helps them lure their prey.
Jorogumo have an innate ability to communicate with other spiders and are able to control them to do their bidding. They are surprisingly agile swimmers and have been known to spend long periods of time in or around water. Tengus are the natural enemies of Jorogumos and the two races have been known to fight to the death over the pettiest of arguments.
STRENGTHS
Webs
(active) Jorogumo are able to create webbing which appears out of thin air, forming large spider webs in a matter of minutes. This webbing is very strong and not easily cut with a sword or a knife. Jorogumo are able to control the webbing with their minds as simply as moving a finger, which makes capturing their prey a simple matter most of the time. They are known to distract their prey by attempting to seduce them or performing music as their webbing crawls around their arms or legs. Most creatures fail to notice what is happening until it's too late to escape. A jorogumo has a 50% chance (roll of 50 or more) of entangling her prey with her webbing if the opponent is aware the attack is coming and a 70% chance (roll of 30 or more) of entangling her prey if they are unaware.
WEAKNESS
Fear of Birds
(passive) Since jorogumo started their lives as small spiders they have a strong fear of birds as well as other bird-like creatures. They are known to scream at the presence of birds or even flee the scene. In spite of this fear they consider Tengus their mortal enemies and they will often fight to the death rather than fleeing from them.
Skills (Pick any two from the following list)
Poison (Passive): A jorogumo with this skill can deliver poison through the use of her bite. This poison may cause opponents to pass out or become paralyzed for a short period of time. A creature bitten has a 50% chance (roll of 50 or more) to be poisoned. A jorogumo with this skill must decide upon choosing the skill the exact effect of her poison.
Summon Spiders (Active): A jorogumo with this skill may summon spiders that aid her in the fighting or simply cause chaos. The spiders are summoned automatically and attack as a swarm. No matter how many spiders are summoned they all attack as a unit (a single dice roll is made with a 50% chance of success). If the roll is successful it means the spiders have bitten the creature, but failure means they were unable to bite through the skin or the creature managed to get them off. If the spiders successfully bite their target they may also attempt to poison it (another roll of 50 or more) and a creature poisoned may pass out or become paralyzed. The effect of the poison is chosen randomly every time the spiders are summoned.
Enhanced Sight (Passive): A jorogumo with this skill has superior eye sight than others of her kind. The jorogumo gains perfect sight in complete darkness and a second roll attempt to spot hidden creatures.
Pheromones (Active): A jorogumo with this skill is able to release pheromones that entice her prey and make them more willing to lower their guard around her. Any living creature exposed to these pheromones has a 50% chance (roll of 50 or more) to become infatuated with the jorogumo, and a creature who would normally be sexually attracted to a jorogumo (depending on race, gender or sexual preference) has a 70% chance (roll of 30 or more) to become infatuated with the jorogumo.
Water Spider (Passive): A jorogumo with this skill feels at home in the water and becomes an expert surviving under water. They gain the ability to see perfectly under water and can hold their breath for 10 minutes at a time. She is still unable to speak under water.
Appearance
Human Form: Jorogumo spend most of their time in human form since it helps them lure their prey. In this form they are considered extremely beautiful (by human standards) and retain most of their abilities except their ability to climb sheer surfaces as well as their enhanced sight.
True Form: Jorogumo normally revert back to their true form when attempting to hunt their prey, when in danger or when in need of scaling walls or ceilings. In this form the jorogumo preserves most of her human features, but gains additional spider features. They sprout six spider eyes on their foreheads and eight large spider legs (from their backs or replacing their lower bodies) giving them the ability to climb sheer surfaces with ease. A jorogumo never risks falling while climbing with her spider legs unless she is attacked while doing so.
[In regard to the True Form, we are aware that these kind of parts might be hard, so those who come up with them and pull it off well will be fine :)]
